The Outer Banks is famous for its offshore sportfishing excursions. Whether it's tuna, dolphin, wahoo or marlin, we have it on the OBX! Our fully-rigged sportfishing boats travel about 40 miles offshore. Once there, the mate sets out a variety of trolling baits and teaser rigs to attract the big pelagic species. Offshore species include yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna, wahoo, mahi, mako sharks, sailfish, white marlin and our apex predatory species blue marlin. Imagine the thrill of a yellowfin tuna bulldogging in circles while you strain to get some line back on the reel. Also imagine the great meal or two you're about to catch!
Our Inshore Charter captains typically closely watch where the fish have been biting and may suggest fishing in the sounds, inlets or near shore waters for any one of a multitude of species. They also offer light-tackle trips for ultimate fun for the youngsters. They’ll take you out for a half-day (4 hour), extended half-day (6 hour) or a full day. These trips are based on four people and we also have some larger inshore boats available that can take larger groups up to six people for an additional charge. As with all of our charters this includes your license and fishing gear but fish cleaning is additional. If you’re new to Outer Banks fishing charters, let us know and the booking agent can recommend a captain that will put you on the fish and keep you coming back.
Our near shore charter fishing trips will take you outside Oregon Inlet to the Atlantic Ocean for either a half day (4 hours), extended half day (6 hours) or full day (8 hours) charter. Plenty of action awaits you just outside of Oregon Inlet. Our experienced captains will troll just off the beach for bluefish and spanish mackerel. Depending on the season other species are sometimes available like cobia, red drum, striped bass and ribbonfish. This is a great trip for young families and creates memories to last a lifetime!
Your Outer Banks family vacation isn't complete without a Harbor Star dolphin tour! What could be more exciting than watching the wild Atlantic bottlenose dolphin jump and frolic right in front of you? This trip is a great time for the whole family. The 2 hour cruise includes an entertaining tour and an opportunity to spot wild dolphins* aboard the 50-foot Harbor Star cruise boat. It leaves the Wanchese Marina multiple times per day**.
Tickets must be purchased 30 minutes or further in advance of your cruise departure time either online or at the Marina desk. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your cruise and proceed to the staging area near The Landing Grill Steam Bar.
*The dolphins are wild, so sightings are not guaranteed.

Over the past few years as charter fishing gets more expensive, the popularity of makeup charters for our offshore trips has increased tremendously. These trips are called many things along the East Coast including makeup, group sharing, walk on and open boat charters. We put individual anglers together with other groups (usually a total of six anglers) so that they can share expenses. Unlike other services where you are put on a waiting list to find a full group, we'll make every effort within our means to find the additional anglers you require for your trip. The Harbor Star offers wedding cruises designed for a small personal wedding with your closest family and friends.
